About Prof. Venugopal Iyengar

Prof. Venugopal Iyengar is a certified information security manager (CISM), certified information system auditor (CISA), certified information system security professional (CISSP), associate certified fraud examiner (ACFE), audit advisor for QMS ISO 9000, ISMS BS 7799 and ITSM BS 15000. He is a life member of computer society of India , Cine Technician Association of South India and international member of Internet Security Alliance and IEEE. He is currently the President of ISACA Mumbai chapter and also contributed to ISACA parent organization at USA in various areas such as contribution to CISA and CISM study material, article for the website, review of information system security and IS audit references. He is a member of the expert committee appointed by Government of India, Department of Information Technology (MC&IT) for reviewing security program / courseware by different government institutions. He is associated with western region of NASSCOM, IMC and BCC&I in providing IS Security inputs to their members which includes association with Mumbai Police, IT and ITES, SME's and others. He has published several papers at various domestic and international IS security forums. He is a known speaker on information security and IS audit at various platforms that includes CII, MAIT, Dataquest, Banking Frontier, Network Computing, IBA, etc. He is a guest invitee (visiting) faculty to several institutions overseas and within the country.

Prof. Venugopal Iyengar is associated with information technology for almost three decades out of which about one decade totally into information system audit and security. He is currently the Director of IOTM and President of ISACA Mumbai Chapter. He has a rich experience in the area of Information Security.

The inaugural address covered the topic on "IT Governance Principle and Practice and COBIT as a tool for implementation, measuring and monitoring ITG" for the IS auditors from various government enterprises on Monday, September 19, 2005.

"Architecting Security in Defense Information system" under the theme "IT Networks for NAVY" at the Intercontinental The Grand, New Delhi, a two days conference organized by Integrated Headquarters Ministry of Defense (NAVY) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on December 21, 2004.

"Importance of Digital Signature" at the National IT Conference held at Thakur Auditorium, Mumbai hosted by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on January 8, 2005.

"Architecting Security Governance in Specialized Information System" at the "NetSec2005" Annual Conference held within the campus at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai on February 12, 2005 (11 to 13 Feb)

"Security Requirements for the Digital Era" Theme speech at the Hotel Intercontinental The Grand, Mumbai organized by Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCC&I) on February 22, 2005.

"Information Security Management",  a monograph authored by self published by BCC&I was launched at the hands of Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Maharashtra, at the Hotel Intercontinental The Grand, Mumbai on February 22, 2005.

Program leader for "IT Security Conference 2005" Conducted by Confederation of Indian Industries - Western Region, on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Mumbai. On this occasion a "Report on Information Security Program Baseline 2005" was released by Mr. Sudhir Tehran, Chairman of CII and CMD of Crompton Greaves Ltd. The report is an outcome of survey / project guided by self along with CII members.

"Making Money Transaction Safe and Secure on the Internet" at Hotel President, Mumbai during the Cyber Safety Week organized jointly by Indian Banks Association, NASSCOM and Mumbai Police on August 23, 2004.

"Changing from compliance to assurance in electronic security" organized by Indian Banks' Association held at Hotel Hilton on Wednesday, June 22, 2005. The paper included concepts such as web application chronology, continuously evolving threats, standards and best practice framework, enterprise security management, need for data obfuscation for tomorrows technology, red book to CC ISO 15408, concluding to assurance from compliance.

Special session on "Security Concerns with Internet and IT usage" for the members of Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) at VJTI, Mumbai on Friday, July 22, 2005

Conference Chair for the Annual Conference 05 of ISACA Mumbai Chapter with theme on "Changing Technology and Emerging Regulations" with 2 days on conference (26 &27 August 2005) and 1 day on Tutorial/Workshop (28 August 2005) which was well received by members, employers and other professional and regulatory bodies. Inaugurated by the Mrs. Robin Dialo, First Secretary of US Embassy and Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Secretary-IT, Government of Maharashtra .

Conducted a guest lecture on "Network Security and WLAN Technologies" on Saturday, September 24, 2005 for the faculties of Information Technology and Computer Science Departments of various colleges of Maharashtra State at the program coordinated by the Dept of B.Sc-IT, S.I.E.S. (Nerul) College of Arts, Science & Commerce.

"Positioning Standards for Security of Information System" at the International Summit on Information Security Management System organized by BSI India in association with British Standards Institute UK and Hong Kong on January 20, 2003 at Bangalore and January 27, 2003 at Mumbai
