Description

Dear Member,

We are pleased to invite you to the Chapter Members Meeting as per details below

Topic : Cyber Security - Time to think beyond Maginot Line

Abstract:

Cyber attacks today have not only become more sophisticated with very definite and precise motives, but have also become more persistent and unavoidable.

Traditional approach of Cyber Defense will no longer provide adequate protection against such attacks very much like the famous Maginot line in France in WW II against Germans. If one needs to survive in this constant battle against the Cyber Criminals and Threat vectors, an organization needs to think differently and have more pro-active approach that is based on not just the robust preventive countermeasures but a strong detective and reactive mechanism to counter these unavoidable Threat vectors.

This presentation provides a meaningful comparison between traditional Cyber Defense Strategy with famous Maginot Line of WW2 and profound insight into the new paradigm shift in Cyber Security Strategy to counter the menace of Advance Persistent Threats (APTs). The presentation also provides a brisk overview of current Cyber Security Trends and Challenges and Risk landscape of Energy Sector (selected as one with a string of attacks recently).

The presentation also describes a few case studies where how Cyber Attacks in recent times have led to major breaches and increased reputation risk. In the end, the presentation would also provide brief overview of best practices and strategy to foster the Cyber Defense that go beyond the realms of traditional lines of defense (called Maginot Line).
